American politician, retired AT&T executive, and former chair of Tarrant County Democratic Party.
BIOGRAPHY
Deborah Peoples is a political leader, a voting rights activist, and business consultant. After retiring from AT&T in 2012 as a vice president, she ran and won the job as chairwoman of the Tarrant County Democratic Party, a post she held for nine years. Under her leadership, the party saw not only significant growth but witnessed major wins.
In 2021, Peoples became the Democratic nominee for Mayor of Fort Worth, winning more votes than her opponents in a crowed race of ten. Peoples was the first black woman to run for Fort Worth's mayor.
She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Black Women Lawyers of Tarrant County, NAACP, The Links, Incorporated, American Red Cross and the United Negro College Fund.
